Dean Harrison on Winning the Cup - 2004

Mid Canterbury’s win over Northland in February 2004 remains one of the great Hawke Cup upsets. With no players who had played, or would play, First Class cricket, the side challenged and beat a Northland team missing a few frontline players but still holding onto plenty of quality (Brett Hood, Dean Potter, Jamie Lee, amongst others).

Dean Harrison is pretty humble when it comes to his own performances, but he took 7/17 off 15 overs in the key Zone 4 match against Canterbury Country and backed it up with 5/45 in the Challenge against Northland (and added another 5-for against Taranaki in the defence a fortnight later).
